Paris 8 University has four doctoral schools:

• Doctoral School n°31 Pratiques et théories du sens (Practices and Theories of Meaning)
• Doctoral School n°159 Esthétique, sciences et technologies des arts (Aesthetics, Sciences and Technologies of the Arts)
• Doctoral School n°224 Cognition, langage, intéraction (Cognition, Language and Interaction)
• Doctoral School n°401 Sciences Sociales (Social Sciences)

These schools bring together renowned research laboratories to provide a doctoral education in line with the scientific policy of the institution or, where appropriate, associated institutions.

They offer students scientific support and tuition designed for and provided through research, leading to a doctorate at the end of a three-year course following their master’s degree. They also prepare students for careers as doctoral graduates.
