Student Mentors

Student enrolment and support mentors are master’s and doctoral students who provide assistance for students taking the same licence (bachelor’s) course as they did during their undergraduate studies at Paris 8 University. They are on hand all year round to help students adjust and get the most out of student life.

Student Enrolment Mentors

Student Enrolment Mentors provide assistance:

  • during administrative registration in the lecture halls, at the registration office, on welcome day and at the SCUIO-IP Student Guidance and Careers Advisory (July, September and early October) to help new students complete the administrative formalities;
  • at class registration (mid-September, end of October) for bachelor’s programmes. They work for the course administrative and teaching teams for a period of four weeks to help with the transition between pre-enrolment and the start of classes.

Student Support Mentors

  • Student Support Mentors take over from the Student Enrolment Mentors and provide personalised support for students through to the end of the academic year. They work under the responsibility of the course organisers for the undergraduate (bachelor’s) programme and are supervised by the teacher responsible for the mentorship programme. Depending on students’ needs and concerns, mentors help students:
    • improve their core skills (writing and oral presentation skills, core concepts, etc.)
    • learn about or improve approaches to university coursework (notetaking, reading reports, searching for sources, etc.)
    • develop self-reliance and ways to work independently
