  • The library
at Université Paris 8 is a public service primarily intended for the academic
community. However, the material can be consulted free of charge on the
premises by any adult, or anyone holding a baccalauréat
degree. The inhabitants of the Seine Saint-Denis département and the students of the Ile de France region can also
borrow material from the library free of cost.

    The library is
located in a spacious and comfortable building situated at the heart of the Saint-Denis
campus. Designed by the architect Pierre Riboulet, it has been regarded as a reference
    both in France and
abroad since its inauguration in 1998.

    It holds 400,000
printed and audio-visual items (books, newspapers, reviews, doctoral
dissertations, CDs, DVDs, etc.). Organized by themes, 250,000 of these items are
freely accessible in the reading rooms, and are listed in the library’s online catalogue.

university library also subscribes to 15,000 electronic reviews and thirty
databases which can be accessed via the university network. Once the necessary
authorisations have been obtained, the library also provides online access to
the doctoral dissertations defended at Paris

resources and services available both on-site and online are presented on the
    library’s web site (fr): www.bu.univ-paris8.fr
