Campus Condorcet

Paris 8 University is a founding member of Campus Condorcet Paris-Aubervilliers.

Campus Condorcet was selected by an international jury as part of the Opération Campus scheme launched by the French President in February 2008. This entirely new project was granted 450 million euros in state funding and is backed by several local bodies, such as Ville de Paris, the Conseil régional d’Île-de-France, the Conseil général de Seine-Saint-Denis, the Communauté d’agglomération de Plaine Commune and the Commune of Aubervilliers – as part of the State-Region Planning Contract.

A new asset in the field of human and social sciences, a venue for inter- and trans-disciplinary exchange, a major hub for the many French and international researchers it intends to welcome, Campus Condorcet will have a structuring impact on human and social sciences in Île-de-France, as well as on a French and international scale.

The project was launched by eight institutions and organisations, all internationally-minded in both research and education, particularly in doctoral studies: the École Nationale des Chartes, the École pratique des hautes études, the École des hautes études en sciences sociales, Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne, Paris 8 Vincennes-Saint-Denis, Université Sorbonne Paris Nord, INED, CNRS, and the Fondation Maison des sciences de l’homme de Paris.
