AGILE project

Within the framework of the Erasmus+ cooperation partnership programme, the aim of the AGILE project is to contribute to the development of inclusive Higher Education systems in Europe capable of responding to the current refugee crisis through shared values, civic engagement, social participation and the recognition of competences in the learning pathways of refugees.

One of the European Union’s main objectives is to improve the inclusion of refugees in society. In this area, it seems that Higher Education Institutions are not doing enough. We are convinced that better access to Higher Education for refugees is the only way to ensure better inclusion in the European Union society.

As a consortium of 8 partners - 6 Higher Education Institutions, 1 academic foundation and 1 education-oriented company - in Europe and Ukraine, we are committing to this project for 3 years, from December 2022 to May 2025, and we are encouraging and rewarding excellence in learning, teaching and skills development.

We will organise round tables, surveys, public talks, a summer school, local experiments and conferences. We want to involve the academic community as much as possible, but also companies and civil society in our initiative. We will make our results accessible to everyone in order to disseminate our best practices.

The main expected impact of the project in Paris 8 is to consolidate the University Diploma schemes for refugees and extend them using certain involvement/engagement teaching methods (such as project teaching). As well as consolidating our own DU (and those of our partners), this project will also enable us to set up a network of former students from different DUs, with the aim of assessing the impact of these schemes on the future and future of the students trained. It will also be an opportunity to put former students in contact with new refugees through project-based teaching, so as to create a chain of mutual support, social commitment and informal training through the group.

Université Paris 8 is coordinating the project as a whole, as well as the working group responsible for setting up different types of experiments for refugees in European universities.
